cant detect friend's wireless

hello. I am at my buddies house and have run into a strange problem. My laptop cannot detect his wireless network, however his MacBook Pro is on the table right next to mine and is perfectly connected. I know the name of this network and I have attempted to add it by going into the "set up a connection or network" wizard, however it does not show up. I know it is not my adapter because I am picking up two of his neighbor's wireless networks and I know it is not his network because HIS macbook is picking it up fine. Any help in this situation would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

ps I have confirmed that I am entering the correct information on my part, his network is hidden. thanks!
