    cant connect to the internet

    Hi I just got a new R400. Just getting around to using it. I cant connect to the internet. Ive connected before, but i had alot of trouble. Now i cant connect at all. i dont know what to do. tech support is not open. how do i connect to the internet wirelessly?? :confused:

    I know I have got good strength, when it does connect (been trying for hours cant connect today) its at 99%. nothing works.

    no matter what i click on, under millions of tabs, nothing can connect me to the internet. :mad:

    Maybe as a place to start shut down the firewall.

    only my windows firewall is on. im not sure how to shut it off. can this really be the problem? i dont want to be without a firewall. i cant connect to the internet at all over here

    im on the phone with the dsl company tech. nobody knows whats going on. this is great :(

    does that mean plugging the wire into the laptop? i tried that and all i get is "page cannot be displayed". ive called lenovo about 6 times. nobody knows anything. i think ill call my cc and do a chargeback. this is bs, cost almost a grand and i cant get online.

    What is you internet provide


    start with runing command prompt do ipconfig??
    post output here


    if all get is 169. something you not get lease from router or modem

    what provide is it

    do you have light on you ethernet card does it show cable pluged in?


    if you plug anythey laptop iinto same connection does it work?

    des any1 know how to connect to the internet? i guess i should have gotten a dell. i bet a dell can connect to the internet just fine. :mad:

    yes 3 times. then they refer me to lenovo. i called them about 20 times. they refer me to embarq.

    so anyone know how to connect to the internet? every time i call lenovo i get a minority on the phone who doesn't know anything. im all for equal oppertunity employment and all but i need some real help.

    List your network configuration: computer and type of network card, router, modem, etc. Also provide the operating system you are using, and the exact error messages you get.

    R400, 5300 AGN, 2WIRE, vista basic. i get a bazillion different messages. they all seem to point to some radio signals that are turned off.

    2wire 2701hg-s. there are 2 other comps using it, works fine never had a problem.

    lenovo has me doing a full restore now. chose to delete all files.

    setting up connection, used security key. also tried plugging in the laptop directly and that doesnt work. just did a full diagnostic scan and everything passed.

    YEs i agree with shyster1 when scan network do see any avaible as for cable? connection it shound just be plug in and go

    go into device manger do see network card drivers install right no yellow check marks on anythings ?

    laptop is really screwed up. wont connect to anything, period. optical drive just started making chain saw noises. this POS is getting returned tomorrow. i am NOT getting charged a 15% restocking fee, no matter what it takes. :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

    okay can you check stuff maybe help with you issues


    what does ipconfig /all

    at command prompt show?



    go to control panel network and internet

    click view network anc connection status

    on side they manged network connections


    you shound your wireless adapter and you wired one

    if you right click on wired one hit status ?

    what it show for ipv4 and ipv6 conenective with cable pluged in?

    does it show network speed?


    also if hit details does show ip for ipv4 if so what is it?


    you know you isp cound requiment you register you mac address before you able to connected
