    Hi All
Have read through most of the posts here and cant find an answer.
My problem is that I have setup a wireless router to my wiredmodem router
Went with the default settings and everything worked fine, then added wep encryption and although my wireless adapter can see the network it cannot access the internet, keys have been manualy entered and confirmed. The computer logs onto the network but wont access the internet. Did an ipconfig/all and it shows the router, but when i try to ping the router address it times out.

Any help would be appreciated before I resort to cabling the house

    Dave:

    Ahhmm....I see.

Can you see your router? I mean is it connected to your laptop? Try to do a 192.168.x.1, where x is usually 1 or 2.

Also, does internet work wired to the wireless router??

Did you enter the correct password? Try diabling the connection, and then enable it and make sure you have the right password.

Also, go into where you did the ipconfig/all and do this:

type: ipconfig /release and hit enter (should knock you offline)
type: ipconfig /renew and hit enter

Go the routers website, look for support/downloads, and then look for firmware. Try to update it for your router

It is, i have issues like this sometimes. usually just a simple fix as i have said above fixed it.

Try unplugging all your devices from the wall, wait 30 seconds, and then plug them back in and try

    Nick,

I am having the same problem. Received my XPS M140 hence was very excited. I have spent almost 4 hours trying to setup a secured network connection.

Will try unplugging and plugging option.

    Any other feedback is appreciated

    Thanks

I was finally overcome the difficulty. It was the "KEY" , I had set it to "OPEN" instead of "SHARED".
    Now it works fine.

Thanks for staging such a wonderful forum.
