i occasionally sync my phone and use my 3g dongle when wifi is not available.
recently however i was unable to do both.
the only changes i remember making is making some modifications to my network settings as recommended by a lifehacker article to keep my system more secure in public networks.
i also disabled some startup programs to improve my boot time but afaik none of them were related to syncing or the ability to connect thru my 3g dongle.
    any help would be appreciated

0 idea you need to remember what you changed : "keep my system more secure in public networks"
"i also disabled some startup programs" .. .. some :p don't change things just by reading it on the web without knowing what it does.
It maybe useless on 1 pc but other pc wouldn't work without it.
