    Hi there,

I have recently bought an Aspire 2010 but somehow the bluetooth device is disabled. The blue light switches on briefly during boot, but goes off during windows startup (and remains off). Clicking button shows message: no bluetooth device.

The device is not found in hardware list, searching new hardware doesn't show BT, I reinstalled BT drivers succsfully but again no device found, going back to XP factory settings (herstelpunt) doesn't help.
I cannor see how BT can be activated in windows or BIOS. Please help!!

    Eric

    Hi!

I have an Aspire 2000. If the 2010 has the same issue as mine, the BT chip is not installed at all. Acer planned everything to integrate that chip on their laptops but, I assume, at production stage, the chip just wasn't ready or something. However, it's kind of available now. See: http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2745

You’ll see why I use [/I]kind of[/I]. It’s both expensive, hard to find and probably a pain in the ass to install. I just love my laptop but I'll be the first one to admit that acer has been (probably deliberately) fuzzy on their web site about BT integration. After all, there is a bluetooth enable/disable button that they promote big time while it's completely useless. I chose to purchase a BT PCMCIA with retractable antenna from billioton and it works just fine with my Logitech mice/keyboard. Good luck.

Although I don't have a notebook, I have a desktop that I activesync with my Jornada 720 Handheld PC, and I suffered from the following
"Cannot install a Bluetooth device after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2" I found a fix at the following address
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=840635

I did the action Number two and from then on my Billionton Bluetooth dongle worked! Hope this may be of help to you somehow. Cheers and good luck,
