    best range wireless card for inspiron 1520?

    i currently have the dell Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini-Card. Are there any cards that can get better range than this? im running vista home premium

    the inel 4965a/g/n should work w/ the proper router like the wrt600n

    im looking for internal cards. my router is 2WIRE. what do you mean with the proper router? does it matter?

    Well, if you have a router that supports up to g and you have a nic that does N, then there is a speed mismatch, not that it's not going to work, but the nic would be faster than the router, and normally you would shot for a router that is at least the nic speed or faster. Also, some people have expressed that some routers don't work well with some nics. I personally prefer to keep everything within the same brand, but when it comes to internal cards you don't have much choice. The Intel 4965 AGN is the most popular, you won't go wrong with it. Netgear also have excellent routers, depending how much money you want to spend.

    I honestly don't know, but common sense would say that an external card would have a greater coverage because you can have a better antenna system.

    An internal card is more convenient as it doesn't utilize the external PCI express port, nor you have to care if you brought it with you or not.

    is it safe to buy the internal mini card from ebay? its much cheaper than from dell(80$)

    is the intel 4965a/g/n compatible with the 1520? are drivers available?

    i believe so-- but you may need to ensure 3 antenna's come w/ the 4965, not sure....
