ok...got a belkin F5D8233-4v3 router, comcast cable, and all hooked up to my daughters pc. i got a sony vgn-fs40/w laptop. i am having problems connecting and staying connected. once i am connected...i get this message...'windows was unable to find the certificate to log u on to to the network mari420'. but i am actually connected....
next....speed drops from 54 to 24 mbps in like 2-3 min. cant open any pages at 24, then in a few min. its drops to 1 mpbs. then i disconnect from network and reconnect....and it happens all over again.
i have changed channels in router like 5 times now.
    got windows fire wall off.
i dont know crap about routers.
all i want to do is connect and stay connected!
so hopefully this is enough info for anyone to HELP me.
    thanks....

I don't like Belkin. I have yet to get one that worked more the 30 days. I quit installing them after the 6th one.

On you notebook make sure you have the energy management is not powering the wireless down to save energy.

It sounds like the wireless security on the new laptop is looking for a RADIUS server. You don't want this wireless security setting on your laptop. Check your router and verify the wireless security scheme (WEP, WPA, etc) and then make sure the same scheme is used for the wireless network on the new laptop.

One more thing: never butcher or abbreviate an error message. When you post, make sure to write the exact error message.

You do not want to use WEP, Use only WPA(2) with a min 20chr (preferred max) randon printable chr security key.
