did you set up your laptop network adapters with a static ip address (either wireless or wired)?

when i first got this lappy a year ago i just connected, it asked for passwords i filled it in and its worked ever since. i got a bit paranoid so messed with a few setting trying to make things more sercure and when i put in the cable it did not work although it had before many times i had to reset the router for 10 seconds then it worked but when i tryed to go wireless it said that there is already a computer with this ip address basicly it thinks that the wired and wireless are 2 diffrent computers.thx for any help.
