My girlfriend is about to buy a laptop and given the price and logistical considerations involved, I have a feeling she may end having to buy a laptop with a b/g wireless card. Given how common the g standard is, how likely is that n becomes widely used in the near future? I would rather not have to worry about her needing to buy a wireless-n pci card upgrade down the road.

I don't think G would be going anywhere anytime soon. After all a and b is not only still supported but also backwards compatible. I wouldn't be too concerned about g being obsolete right now.

    I agree with makaveli72.

G will still be supported for much time to come.
