Hey I have an Asus G2s notebook with an Intel 4965AGN wireless card

right now i'm connected to a wireless access point however I can only connect to games like World of Warcraft when my laptop is running on battery mode and not on AC power. This is a problem the game runs poorly on battery and I want to be able to play with AC power.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

    Check your firewall settings.

Have you changed your power settings? If your laptop is running in reduced power mode while on battery, try forcing the laptop to run at max power while on battery. That should improve your performance, but it will drastically reduce battery life.

The FW is set based on port's. So wireless and wired are treated seperately. The power management is based on state AC or Batteries.

Sounds like you are missing a power setting. Did you check both the CP and advanced port settings?

The (power Management Control Panel is pretty easy, go through all tabs and settings. The Advanced port requires you to select your wireless device, right click then select properties. There should then be an advanced gui (button). Make sure you have it set to constantly on. NO Reduced power settings, would fix the bad performance on battery, too.

If this is Vista, someone running Vista may need to have you look at your profile settings.

Normally it's the battery side that has problems.

May want to look at your FW settings, it may have something set wrong killing the wireless when on AC, but that would be vary strange unless it was Symantic (Norton). If that's the case, save yourself a lot of trouble and uninstall it now. Install COMODO FW & AV both FREE, requiring 1/2 the over head as norton. You will be required to go to Symantic web side to get the uninstaller to remove it. Symantic does not know what Uninstall means.

May want to run cablenut and see if it fixes the speed/not working issue when on wired. I still think it may be a FW issue, with it blocking some ports needed to run the games.
