The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Proxies. A buffer between you, the internet, the data you are accessing. For best results log into systems that are not US friendly. I'm sure you can figure that out (Iran anyone? 217.174.21.19: 8080).

    How to: (Firefox)

    1. Tools
    2. Options
    3. Connection settings
    4. Click manual connection settings
    5. Under HTTP proxy type the IP address. Under port#put the port numbers.

    Various proxies:

PS.: You can also chain several proxies together making yourself appear even more anonymous. Ex: Route through Iran, Russia, China, Vietnam, Argentina: you. From what I understand Firefox does not allow a user to chain proxy but such software can be found with a little searching.

You can also chain using Microsoft Management Console.
