Recently installed XP on my dv6985se, downloaded all the drivers from the hp website. Everything works well except my wireless. If I connect an ethernet cable from my modem to the laptop, it also works. But it won't finds any networks even though I donloaded the driver for my wireless card and there are no yellow marks in the device manager. Could it be because of SP3?

No. It's either because the driver isn't designed to work with XP (most large OEMs provide very poor support for XP as their focus is on _Vista).

Check your event logs to see if anything got logged their relating to the wireless card.

Do a Start--> Run and type services.msc and hit enter. Scroll to the Wireless Zero Configuration service and make sure it's set to Automatic and Started.

Also, in Device Manager is the Wireless Adapter Card showing up at all? Under the Network Adapters section...What's the name?

Is the Wireless Adapter turned on? You can check the BIOS at start up too...

If all else fails, uninstall the Device from Device Manager; restart and re-install it.

Ok, I'm going to try to run services.msc now and see what happens.
Yes, my wlan card is showing up and it's called Intel(R) WiFi Link 4965AGN. I tried deleting the driver and reinstalling it..no luck
Yes, my wireless adapter is turned on, if you mean the wlan switch.
And wireless works perfect in vista, but not in XP.

    SOLVED!!!
I ran services.msc set it to automatic and a list of Wireless networks appeared. Thank you so much, I spent like a month trying to figure this out.
I was also told that you can't have wireless on sp3 and that you need to install sp2 first and then upgrade to sp3. But thats total BS. I have sp3 and its all good. Well anyway I now have a fully functional Windows XP Professional with SP3. I guess I'm good to go. XD
