Okay, so I have 3 computers, 1 XP, 1 Vista Home basic and 1 vista home premium. From my XP computer I can see both Vista machines. From the machine with home basic I can see both the home premium and the XP machines, but from the home premium machine i can only see the home basic machine I can not see the XP machine, The thing is I can see something from the xp machine but it is not the computer itself, I don't really know how to explain it but when I click on it windows media player pops up, but does nothing so I don't really know why or what it is.

All of the computers are in the same workgroup, and they can all ping each other.

I really am stumped right now any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I've had a ton of network problems with windows. I guess MS hasn't fixed them yet even now.
Try running the network setup wizard on all 3 computers.

so your problem would be on the home basic machine. check if you have turned on the network detection under network and security. also, check the way how you set up network, meaning was it a private, work, or public.

i have xp on my hp laptop, home basic on desktop, and ultimate on my msi. i see all three computers on the network.

The problem is with my laptop that has home premium, I have everything turned on, I am in a private network. Both my xp and home basic machines can see each other and the home premium laptop, the home premium can see the home basic but NOT the XP machine, and the xp machine can also see the other 2 vista machines.

Create identical users on all three machines. Next, verify file and printer sharing is enabled on all machines. Then, turn off all firewalls. If you can access all computers, work backwards through that list and see if the problem lies with the firewall.

I turned off the firewalls and nothing happened. My mom's computer which is the one with home basic works fine, but if doesnt have the same username so I am not sure if that is the problem, I am almost certain that it is a problem with my laptop the one with home premium.
