I have a wired workgroup network that includes a linksys WAP54G WAP. The
X200 can connect to the wired PC on the network and share it's resources just fine as well as a networked storage device and printer. The X200 connects to the internet with no problems...it works just as you would expect it to. The problem is that the wired PC cannot see the X200 either by browsing the network or by running \\name\c$ for example, however, it can ping the X200 OK using either it's name or IP address.

I then disabled the wireless connection and hooked the X200 directly to the network using an ethernet cable and then everything works fine - the wired PC can connect to the X200 and share resources like you would expect.

Would anyone have any ideas why I am experiencing this behavior...it's almost like a "one-way connection" when on wireless. I figure I must have some networking parameter set wrong or something but I can't figure it out.

    thanks for any feedback

    Two different Operating Systems?

Access Points have a setting that says "Isolate Access Point"...something to that effect...you should log into the WAP and check this setting to make sure it's not enabled.

So the WAP is connected to another Router I guess? And the other Router has the wired PC connected to it, while the WAP has the x200 connected to it...is this so?

What version(s) of .Windows are you running on each machine and, if one is running XP and the other _Vista, is the XP one running SP3 or an earlier SP?

    Thanks for the replies.

They are both running XP Pro SP3. The WAP is connected to to the wired network via one of the ports on my Cisco 501 Firewall. It turned out that the problem was trivial except I never thought to look for it...I thought I had set up the network protocol parameters the same on both machines but for some reason the File and Priinter Sharing was not checked on the laptop...that's why it wasn't showing up on the wired computer. Sometimes I have difficulty seeing the forrest...
