    I got a new laptop today. A gateway.
    It runs super fast and really well with a cable attached to it. But when i do not have the cable it is slow as hell. It wont even load a webpage. It pisses me off. I just got it. My ipod is faster than it. My dads laptop has no problems. This is ing retarded how can i fix it???

    It would help if we knew what model your Wi-Fi card is. If it's a 5100AGN, then it explains itself.

    How far away from the router are you? When you use your iPod wirelessly, are you the same distance? How about your dad?

    I can use my ipod and my dads computer very well when i am across the house. my laptop is extremely slow even when it is right next to the router.

    Start > Control Panel > Classic View on Left Hand pane > Network and Sharing Center > Manage Network Connections on Left Hand pane
    Double click Wireless Network Connection (or similar).
    Click details, move the details so it's next to the other window, then post a screenshot here.

    Go to speedtest.net and run the test on your laptop, then compare it on your dad's laptop.

    i cant even GET to that website on my laptop. It will not load.

    Oh and I took it to my other house, and it worked PERFECTLY. But here it doesent.

    You are connect to the local net but not getting out. Try this cmd from the command line utility " ping 209.131.36.159 " and " ping yahoo.com ". If the first one works and the name one does not your DNS info is not passing through to you. You may try rebooting the router. Make sure it has the latest firmware. If that does not work you can manually enter the dns info.

    Your FW can also block internet access.
