I recently reformated an old acer travelmate 290E because of a bad bug. Before the format, the wireless capability was fine and connected to my router without issues. Now when i search for a wireless network connection it says there is none in range. The light on laptop which shows the connectivity of wireless does not turn on either! The switch that used to enable wireless no longer works and does nothing when i switch it. I have installed all the drivers. Any help is VERY much appreciated. :(

What OS are you running, and is anything showing up in your event logs (assuming you're running a Windows-based OS)?

Go to the control panel and click on Administrative Tools. When that opens up, you should see the event viewer on the left-hand side. Click on that and look under System.

Also, what service pack for XP are you running? SP1, 1a, 2, or 3? And, were the drivers you installed the originals that came with the system, or the latest from the manufacturer's website?
