Well, the story starts a couple days ago.

Basically everything was running fine, my laptop and router were going hand in hand, seemed pretty happy. My dad and I decided the internet was much too slow, so we opted for the faster ADSL2+ connection. Sure enough we got it within the day, and everything was running fine. For my dad. For me, my laptop had decided,

"ok, I don't like the router anymore, so I'm not showing it."
    I'm thinking WAHHH?

Wierd thing is, all the other random wireless connections I got previously were fine, when I searched for them they had no problem showing up. But MY router. ***. It was fine before upgrade to the new line, so why? I've taken down the security on my router, I've disabled then re-enabled SSID broadcasting a billion times, yet my laptop just refuses to show the router. wth is going on? am I missing something here? If you need anymore information to help solve this I'd be glad to look into it.

Make sure that the router firmware is up-to-date.

So this is the same router you've been using all the time, and they just changed the line?

That is a weird one if that's the case....

Other than the new line being installed, do you remember making any big changes on your laptop around the same time?

PS: LOL....you're dad must be laughing in his mind while he enjoys all that newfound speed. :D

    Bog: Done that already.

kegobeer: No, but I will as a last resort.

makeaveli72: Spot on. Really don't understand why this would happen. And no I didn't make changes at all. The wireless was always connected up to router. Although while we had the downtime for the transistion to the new line, I did leave the router off for those number of days. Could that be the problem?

No, having the router off and unplugged don't normally mess up or change any config. you made on it.

Man, all I can say at this point is to make sure the router and the wireless card is on the same channel #. Make sure the router SSID Broadcasting is enabled (you pointed that out above), and play around w/ the different Advanced settings in Device Manager for your wireless card.

I'm really stumped, because you said ur dad still gets on to it and that your machine sees other networks. Are you sure your network isn't there and you don't recognize it? Verify the name of the network on your dad's computer!

Good lord. After a couple hours I decided to reset the router to factory settings and start from scratch. Funnily enough it had the nerve not to work again, but after a couple Wi-Fi resets and router resets it finally popped up. It seemed to remedy itself, which kinda peeves me off. Oh well, thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it lots. :D

Delete the router from your computer and let it connect to it again.
