Hi, a wireless security camera system was recently set up close to my Belkin Wireless N+ router (about 4 feet) and now since then my wireless connection and internet has been sluggish as hell, like a 56k connection.

Now, there is a huge possibility that the system will stay where it is but I am wondering if anyone has been through this before and what can be done in the Belkin Wireless N+ router or security wireless properties to stop this behavior from happening?

A quick response and usable response would be most appreciated.

Possibly relating to the channel they are both using? try changing the router to another.

Sounds like both devices use the 2.4GHz band for communication and hence block out WiFi.

Try changing channels and / or reboot the router if it has an auto channel select feature (will scan for a clear-ish channel before enabling the wifi on that channel).

Its a Homeland security camera system. They don't specify in the manual what channel it uses.

I will attempt to put the Belkin on Auto and see how that helps. Thanks.

They won't say a "channel" in the Homeland camera system. They may give a more detailed frequency than just 2.4GHz though, which may help if you cross-reference that with the 802.11 channel frequency list. It doesn't use the same kind of modulation as your wifi network, it simply uses the same frequencies because there are limited frequencies available for consumer-level devices for unlicensed operators. It's like running a microwave near your AP... it's just going to drown out the signal.
