Is it possible to use a wireless router/access point
as wireless adapter for a laptop?... I have a Zyxel
XtremeMIMO™ X-550 Wireless Broadband Router that can
also function as an Access point, and I was wondering
if it is possible to use it as an adapter for an old
notebook, a Compaq Presario 2100US, through the
ethernet port... also, looking for a mini-pci wireless
card for the same notebook, and wondering if anyone
knows of a brand that works with this notebook... just
wondering, and thanks in advance for any and all
information, and have a great weekend...

Most AP have a client mode, missing in routers. I do not believe it will work.

If your notebook uses a mini-pci slot, there are 2 different sizes. Provided your notebook was prewired for wireless, antennas. Any mini-pci card will work, as long as your antenna leads will reach. Some on top, while other connect on the side. Then check to see if drivers are available for what OS you want to run.
