    Stupid question I'm sure, but I have a wireless router near my desktop. Then I have a wireless laptop.

    Am I able to have the desktop wired to the wireless router, while still having the laptop access the router via wifi? Or can it only be just wired / just wireless? Or can it do wired and wireless simultaneously?

    Yes, Most all wireless routers give you 3-4 wired eithernet ports.
