Just swapped out routers in my home LAN, Netgear R6400 for a failing old workhorse Dlink 524. Have two win7 pro laptops on the LAN, both ethernet connections, an Arris CM820 modem, and a Canon MG5220 wireless printer. The printer worked perfectly on the Dlink, but I'm unable to find it with the 6400 in place.

I've used every win7 add a printer option, TCP/IP, port ID, et al. I've tried the original Canon install disk. I've tried every online win7 printer help procedure I can find. Nada.

The printer sees the 6400 and connects to the LAN every time. I'm able to print a network config page from the printer that correctly ID's the MAC, SSID, connection mode, IP address, et al. The 6400 shows the printer MAC address in the "Wireless Devices" list in the Attached Devices page, but doesn't show the corresponding IP address, SSID, and Device Name columns. Pings to the router and modem are proper. However, a ping to the printer produces a "TTL expired in transit" response.?.

    Suggestions?

Just to make it clear - is the printer showing on router's list of DHCP clients?

Yes, sorry for confusion, the printer MAC address appears on the router's wireless devices list. Also verified the printer works with USB connection to computer.

MAC yes, but assigned IP no? Did the printer have a static IP set with your former setup by any chance?

Correct, MAC yes but no assigned IP on the wireless device list.

Re static IP, don't recall setting up a static, so assume it was auto assigned.

Here's a snapshot of a tracert on the printer IP...looks like the router is sending the printer traffic to the internet.?.

The tracert on the screenshot was to 192.168.1.1 yet you wrote it's been on the printer's IP.
192.168.1.1 is the default IP of your Netgear router - unless you've changed it on purpose. Have you?

I'm certainly not tracert fluent. Don't know why the router (192.168.1.1) shows up as the first leg on the printer (192.168.0.112) route. Perhaps a symptom of the issue? I have my old dlink router back in place (so the wife can print) and the printer tracert shows the single 192.168.0.112 route with the printer name.

Anyway I'm tired of fooling with the Netgear, doesn't work with my range extender anyway. Off to bestbuy to try something else.

You're right. Of course router's IP address would be first - it's a damn router after all. My bad. :vboops:
