Hello everyone, thanks to the feedback from this site, I just ordered a new laptop (Elitebook 8440W). I am going to be upgrading my home office and using the Elitebook with a docking station in combination with two other laptops that will not be hooked via docking stations.

My goal is to replace my ancient desktop that currently has an HP OfficeJet all in one printer with the Elitebook and a new wireless printer. Ultimately, I want to be able to print in color and reliably scan larger documents. To that end, I am trying to determine the best way to go about purchasing the new printer and setting it up.

I am open to purchasing a separate monochrome printer, color printer, and document fed scanner if that increases the usability of the scanner (I have never had good luck with all in ones and scanning). I only need one of the printers to be wireless so that people using the other two laptops can easily print black and what documents regardless of whether the Elitebook is in its docking station.

The Elitebook will be running Windows 7 Pro and the other laptops are still XP.

Any suggestions for solid wireless printing needs? The overall volume of printing will be low (1K pages a month). Are things I need to look for in a printer that will make setting it up to print wireless without being directly connected any computer easier?
