I'm feeling really dumb so please bear with me.

If I have a HP notebook, with Linksky set up in my house and then I take my computer someplace else (miles away) should I be able to connect to the internet without a prob? I get a message that says wireless not available. BUT I have the computer plugged into power, shouldn't I be able to get on line? I hope I've made myself clear. Really sorry if I didn't, this is all kind of new to me.

Linksky? Is that a typo and you mean Linksys or is there some type of wireless service with the name Linksky?

Um, miles away? No, there's no way you'll be able to connect to your router from that far away. Even the longest ranged routers can cover maybe an acre. And having it plugged in has no effect whatsoever on whether or not you'll be able to get online.
