It's been like this for a few months now, never really bothered me much, but it's still a problem. Pretty much my internet does not work when I'm in the library or anywhere on campus. It worked very well last term, then it just started not working.

Pretty much, when I connect to it, it results in 3 things:

    1. Can connect to router, Limited connectivity error
    2. Can connect to router, works fine in first few minutes, then stops I get limited connectivity errors
    3. Can connect to router, works fine in first few minutes, then stops and then idles and just stops. I'm connected but everything times out.

I tried going to ipconfig and using /renew/release/flushdns/etc. but that doesn't help. Neither does repairing the connection, as it always stops at 'Refreshing IP' and then it says it can not do that and gives me limited connectivity errors.

However, my internet works fine at home. Here is another thing, there is a free Wireless connection called 1Zone that covers downtown Toronto, and I can easily connect to it at home(Live on Dundas). However, my University(also on Dundas, just 25 mins away), I can't connect to it, either it stops at 'Refreshing IP/Limited Connectivity' or it connects but idles.

I know its not the University connection, as everyone else is not studying in the library :p

I tried the WinXP hotfix, thXSat didn't do much. Oh, I'm on WinXP SP2 using an Atheros 5006XS wifi card.

    Thanks in advanced!

Check if you have any proxy settings. Remove all of them, including you DNS settings and then try.

Have you set some internet sharing or internet bridge.
Go to the setup home network wizard and [It's stupid for me to tell you] set it on DHCP.
If you have firewall installed, make sure it's set up to work with wireless.

No sharing, I don't have a firewall neither, besides the default XP one.

Take your nb to the techie help desk.

They might have changed some settings on the network.

But you really should use something better than the default XP firewall!

Haven't used a firewall in all my life, so far, nothing has happened. Never caught a virus or trojan, since I don't go into the shady parts of the intraweb at all :p

I'll ask and see, but I'm not sure if they can help.

Are you using window & atheros to control your wireless ? If so try disabling one and see if that works, there could be a conflict between the two on that network.
