I have my wireless card enabled on my new laptop, but it's not picking up any connections. I already have a router and it should support it. Are there any drivers or anything for them that need installed first?

Are you sure that the wireless is turned on? usually it is a switch or a key combination and having either set to off will not let you see networks. If it's a hotkey combination, (like fn + whatever F key is bound to wireless) toggle it and your wireless should work. If it's a switch, make sure its set to ON. Make sure your router is set up too. Refer to it's manual to see what IP adress and password you need to log in to it using an internet browser and a cat5 cable connected directly to it and the computer you are using.

What router and WIreless card are you using?

Has it been working in the past or are you have trouble setting it up?

My router is already set up and has been working fine with my other computer. I'm using a D-link Di-614+ My laptop just came today and I am trying to get the internet on it. The weird thing is that it's not even picking up other signals that my other computer does that is using a USB wireless adapter. The one in my laptop is a 802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN

Check your FW settings (security center).

I went to work today and took my laptop because it will pick up a connection there no matter what. No connections at all were picked up so it's a problem with the computer. I went to RadioShack and the employee told me about unlocking the 'g' part or something I can't really remember. Also, does it matter that the computer that is using the router has Windows XP? My other computer that is also getting a wireless connection is XP, but my laptop is Vista.

Also, what is the Security Center under? Sorry, not too familiar with Vista yet.

I would assume the control panels, where ever they hide it. I do not have a vista pc and do not planing on getting one. I will get to set one up this weekend for a friend, which can not get his on line either. Do a search for it with MS built in help.
