I'm stumped with this one, any suggestions?

Dell Vostro 1500 laptop running Vista Business SP2. Un-installed Intel PRO/Wireless and Intel 3945ABG PCI express mini card. Installed Gigabyte GN-WS30N-RH 802.11n card and latest Gigabyte drivers and utility. Have also tried Gigabyte drivers only, and after Gigabyte uninstall the latest RaLink (chipset manufacturer) drivers. All have the same problem.

The laptop wireless switch is on for all of this, although the WiFi LED flashes about once every four seconds (because the connection is disabled?). With the Intel 3945ABG the WiFi LED would be constantly on.

In all cases the GN-WS30N-RHdrivers/utility install ok. In Device Manager the GN-WS30N-RH card is listed as working properly. However in the Vista Network Connections the Wireless Network Connection is shown as Disabled. I right click and run Enable and nothing changes. The network connection is still disabled.

When the Gigabyte GNConfig utility was installed it said the wireless card was disconnected. The network connection does not appear in ipconfig, but my Broadcom wired Ethernet diagnostics utility can see the MAC address of the WiFi card.

I booted into Ubuntu to verify the card, and the GN-WS30N-RH is recognized and works. It can scan my available wireless networks. So it does not appear to be a hardware issue. I also do not think the BIOS locks out other WiFi cards.

Vista Wireless Network Diagnostics says the card is experiencing driver or hardware related issues, but I cannot figure out what the issues are. Normally if something is working properly in device manager that is all that matters.

Any suggestions on what I do next? This was supposed to be a great card that works in Vista, but I cannot figure this one out.

Progress. I have Kaspersky Internet Security 9.0.0.736 installed. If I right click Wireless Network Connection, select Properties, and disable Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS 6 filter, ok, then right-click and Connect/Disconnect the connection it works. The wifi card is then enabled and can see my local wifi networks. Clearly an interaction with KIS.

Problem was solved by uninstalling and reinstalling KIS 2010
