    Hi,

I remember a news story maybe a few months ago that talked about this wireless adapter that is able to catch signals that most other adapters would not. I can't find that news story though.

But I'm not sure if I need that specifically...I just need something that can pickup a slightly weak signal. I want to test my home network.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Upgrading your antennas is key. You can find 9dBi antennas for Linksys (and other) routers on eBay for fairly cheap.

This USB WiFi adapter is kinda neat:

I'm skeptical of using the relatively high 200mW power output (normal is about 30mW, higher is as likely to amplify noise and tick off your neighbors as help), but it comes with a halfway decent antenna and can be upgraded from there.
