Back in mid Dec last year I posted a problem I was having with a linksys wpc54g wireless adapter and my Dell latitude C610 runing ms2kpro.

The thread is here for those interested: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=197242

Well just posting back here to tell all that I have resolved my wireless connection. Yea I know it took a while but I was distracted by my new Asus Eee I won in a draw. Just had to play with it for a few weeks.

Back to the Dell. Somewhere along the way I corrupted the OS and had to restore from the last known good point. After recovering from this I decided to give my wife permanent ownership of the linksys adapter and confiscate hers. It was either that or squeeze the adapter in my vise and start bashing it with a sledge hammer. Her adapter is a BestBuy special, a Dynex for less than $23 ( I paid alost $60 for the linksys). I thought I would try the adapter out on another older Toshiba notebook also running 2kpro that I could not get the linksys to work with. Using the CD that came with the Dynex adapter got this notebook up and connected in no time. Now onto the Dell. I duplicated everything I did on the Toshiba and eurika I am connected. Startled my wife with my shout of joy.

So there is my story. I am very disapointed in the linksys. I figured I would stay with brand names to ensure a high degree of reliability. It will take a lot of convincing to get me to ever buy a linksys devise again. I know others are using this thing with no problems on the same S/W I am using, but at my age (over 50) I do not need a blood preasure boost. It is already high enough.

If you read all of this thanks. Now back to my Eee. :p :D :D

I brought a dynex last night as well and it worked flawlessly. I read somewhere that the Linksys wouldn't be compatible with my motorola router, so i didn't pick it up. Pretty good router, i must say. :)
