Wireless internet?? Help please.

I'm new to all this wireless stuff so I don't know much about it. I was hoping someone here could help me decide what I need to get.

I need internet throughout my house (thinking about getting Sprint mobile broadband).

I have...
3 desktops
2 laptops
and I think I am getting a new Sony TZ laptop which already comes with a wireless Sprint card.

What do I need to buy so I can have wireless throughout my house on all my PC's? I don't understand all these wireless cards and routers and all that. Will I need to buy a card for each computer? Or just buy one for my main desktop and then buy a router for everything else? And if I buy the Sprint service for $59.99/month, will I be able to access the internet out of state on my new laptop?

Sorry if I sound stupid but I'm new to all this wireless stuff and don't really understand it all yet.

You'll need a standard PC card from Sprint Mobile.

Don't know about the normality of the price. Never bought one. Just did a Google search for Sprint Mobile wireless and this one popped up.

Ok, here we go.
I use sprint broadband, I did used T-mobile for 3 years with no problem & coverage all over US & Canada(little more expensive in Canada).
With Sprint or cable or DSL, you need a router(that is the transformer who will tranform the electric pulses in air waves(2.4Gz)) both way. Depending of the type the router cost is different (linsys for cable run 20.00 used to 75.00 new) (linsys(WRT54G3G-ST) for sprint (EVDO) $250.00) DSL got no idea.
It work this way: The internet provider hardware(EX:SPRINT air card) plug in the wireless router, & the computer connect with the router wirelessly.
Most Newer laptop got integrated wireless board(card). The desktop will need a card,or a USB hardware to connect with the router.
Having 5 PC you will need 1X router, 2X desktop hardware(card or USB), & each laptop should already have their wifi. If you taking a laptop on the road & bring the SPRINT AIR CARD with you, no one got internet at home.

Not sure on your required speed or if all the computers need to have access at the same time but I use alltel evdo signal through my cell phone. The cell phone acts as the modem just plug it into usb port. Unlimited access costs $25 extra on my cell phone bill/month connects at 280kb/sec. not blazin' but my only other option is 29kb/sec. dial up. I can take it anywhere that I get Ev data signal which is everywhere I have been in my area so far. Not sure but I think the alltel air card or whatever is $60 month and does the same thing but not sure may be faster than the cell phone route??? Just my .02!

 

not sure if all you guys who answered are mistaking because this guy could be just asking about plain WIFI not WWAN. he just said his notebook will be having sprint WWAN card

 

Could be I just thought I would share what I use as a possible cheaper alternative to WIFI-WAN-routers?? I really don't know anything about that stuff either!
