    Hi all

I have a Sony Vaio E series (the model where the keyboard lights up). Iv had it for about 14 months and the only defect iv had has been that it has no screen...(I use a hp flatscreen monitor)..anyway until 2 days ago it was working fine, I was checking my study details when suddenly the connection dropped...I tried reconnecting but it kept saying unable to connect so I tried the troubleshooter which then said it couldn't identify the problem...as the hours and days progressed until now it has stopped even detecting my router (or any router for that fact) but every now and then itll pick it up for about a minute then when I try to connect itll disappear again. All the other devices in the house connect fine with the router, iv tried resetting the router and checking the device manager for any faults but alas nothing... so im oout of ideas of what could be wrong or how to fix it and I cant use remote assistance because obviously no internet connection haha so iv turned to the forums for help and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

First, when you say it has no screen, did you buy it used with a broken screen? Or did it just stop working?

Does the wireless card show up in device manager?

Hi there, thanks for for taking the time to reply.
It was brought second hand with no screen, I didn't mind though as its a gaming laptop and I was planning on using it through my big screen tv. and yes you can see the wireless card in the device manager but it does not indicate that there is any fault...

You know that antennas are in the screen-part, right? They go around the LCD to the top.
Make sure that antennas are actually physically attached.

You're laptop is just one part in a chain of components. Have you checked to verify that all the other components are working and transmitting correctly? Every connection problem I've ever had has been the router, cable provider not the computer.

If all other devices at OP's home connect fine to this router (which OP confirmed) that can't be the router that is at fault.
