I'm having a pretty obnoxious problem with my wireless here. I lock my computer (Win+L) whenever I'm not actively using it, and when I unlock it, my wireless connection drops for a few seconds, even if I've only had the computer locked for a second. I've searched around, and it seems like people are having similar problems, but every other mention of this I've seen seems to be happening in Vista, while I'm running XP Pro. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening, and what I can do to fix it? As I mentioned, I'm running Windows XP on a laptop, with a Realtek RTL8185 wireless NIC. I've already upgraded to the most recent drivers, so that shouldn't be the problem. If anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it.

Is anything being logged in your event logs? If it's a software/hardware problem, and not just some intended side-effect of locking the system, it should show up in the event logs.

Could it be it dropped the connection already when locking the screen? Can be tested with login using Remote Desktop from another XP station, or an e-mail program that auto-checks mail every few minutes (new mail = connection active)

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a feature of the wireless management software to drop the connection when the screen is locked. (power save etc)
