I'm using Vista and when my screen gets locked (either through Windows Key + L, or password protected screen saver), and I unlock it, my wireless connection disconnects.

I found out that it disconnects the moment I press enter after typing in my password.

I've tried messing with some power settings, but they didn't help.

Does anyone know why this may be?

    It's an Intel 4965 card.

In power options there should be a setting that says When I close the lid to my computer-Do nothing,Stand by or Hibernate. If you haven't chose this option try it and see if that corrects your problem. BTW I'm on XP so it may be somewhat different.

Yeah, it's already set so that it doesn't go to sleep.

In fact, if I lock it and unlock it instantly, the wireless connection still dies. And I know for a fact that it didn't go to sleep.

Okay, I just updated the drivers to the latest on Intel's site, but the same thing still happens. :/

That other thread is talking about sleep messing it up, but my problem occurs even when my laptop doesn't even go to sleep.

I guess I'll call Sony support since this is a Vaio laptop soon.

Can someone with Vista verify that their wireless network connection doesn't disconnect after locking the computer and then unlocking it? I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature.

    Thanks for your time, though.

    Update:

I found out that this issue is caused by Sony's wireless link switching utility. (I don't even know what it does.) Just uninstall it and it's all good.

Oh, that's not my link. That's notebookreview's advertising thing, that takes keywords and links them to advertisers.
