I have a Toshiba Qosmio F40 with Intel 4965AGN wireless adapter on it, and the wireless connection is pretty unstable on this laptop(I can get good connection with another Dell E1705(Intel 3945ABG)
I'm using the F40 at school where I will be redirect to a log-in page before I can connect to internet, it always show that I am only connected to a local network and not letting me getting on the log-in page...

Another problem is that I have a Belkin N1 router at home, which supports Wireless-N mode, but the F40 never recognize the Wireless-N network(I have the N-mode enable on both router and F40)...

Can anyone please tell me what I can do to fix these issues...thanks!

wireless n is junk... hence "draft" n. it will probably be a year until it's finished, for now its like a beta.. and not a very good one

don't even bother with it.. use an eithernet cable and get much faster speeds.. or just use g

Universities control there networks in different ways. If your not reaching the login page, you will need to contact their IT dept. When you first setup, some register the MAC address of the card. If not in their database you will not get access.

Make sure you have the latest drivers. With intel sometimes you need all that came after the original release. Mainly because some are patches, not the full package. The intel card is a dual band, so you may need to make sure the card and the router is trying to use the same band 2.4 or 5 ghz.

As for 11n, still beta. Never have liked Belkin, have yet to get one that works. Which may be your problem it has already failed. I have had some DOA straight from the box. If you trying 11n you need your security at WPA(2) AES. It does not like the TKIP at times.

i personally love N........as do many, many of our customers

it depends on your setup, router and wifi card

    54mbps vs 300mbps, no comparison

that's just my opinion, also see my sig!! ;)
