I have Verizon Online Dsl. I also have a linksys wrt54g router. Today i called Verizon support because my internet did not work. The support person told me to change a lot of my settings. I think one of it was to change it to bridge mode? I don't know anything about computers. So after that, my internet did not work at all.

I then called Linksys support and they said they could not help me because my warranty expired and that i had to pay 30 dollars for help even though it would not guarantee my internet would work! Anyways, i called back verizon and asked them if they could help me undo what they did. They told me to reset my Westell 6100 Modem but doing that would make it NOT BRIDGED so it would be impossible for my linksys router to work because routers have to be BRIDGED to work.

At this moment, my desktop internet works because the blue ethernet wire is connected from my modem to my desktop. However, my wireless connection does not work at all because the wires are not connected and wouldn't work if i did plug my wire from modem into router and the other wire from router to desktop which would allow me to have both my desktop internet to work and my wireless to work.

Can someone help me with this? Verizon support tells me i have to make my modem BRIDGED in order to have my linksys router to work and it is NOT BRIDGED at the moment. If i do make it NOT BRIDGED, then my whole internet on desktop does not work. Can someone tell me how to configure my modem and Linksys WRT54G to work so both my desktop internet and wireless connection both can work?

If the Internet works, then don't worry about the internet light.

In a short, the Westell should be in bridge. The Linksys can work in Router mode. Clone your desktop MAC into the router. This will make the router look like your desktop pc and every thing should work just fine.

I do not like bridge mode on the end router. You loose your firewall capability that is built in on the router.
