Hello,
I have an Aspire One netbook, one of the 8 inch early ones, that I just did a restore on and the wireless connection is having an odd issue.
The wireless says it and the drivers are installed correctly and working and the icon in the task bar shows that it is connected to my home wireless (Netgear router) with an 'Excellent' signal yet I can not access the internet nor access the router.
I can connect the Aspire One to the router and the internet if I plug in an ethernet cable and my other wireless devices connect to the router fine.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the wireless device and drivers as well as rebooting the router with no success.
The router settings are the same as they were before I restored the Aspire One and it connected fine prior to the restore.
Frankly I'm at a loss as to how to fix this as everything is shows as working but it still will not connect.
Has anyone had this kind of issue before and more importantly does anyone know of a fix for this?
Thanks

Have you tried deleting the saved wireless info and re-detecting your wireless network? The encryption/passkey or something may have been corrupted in the restore.
Have you tried connecting to another wifi to see if your card is the problem instead of the connection association? -
Check in the connection properties what the IP is, is it dynamic or static, what gateway is the connection showing etc.
Also check if another browser or application than the one you're using can connect- it may be app related or Windows related. -
I have the same problem with an Aspire One. The IP is dynamic, AVG can't check for updates, and neither can Windows.

See if your getting a valid DNS server and gateway. See if you can ping the router (provider you have respond to ping on). Look at your IP address is it from your router or MS def when it fails.
ipconfig /all
ping 72.30.2.43 (yahoo IP address, test gateway)
ping yahoo.com (test dns servers) -
It gets an address from the router, put pinging the router doesn't work wirelessly. When I connected it with a cable, it worked.

Have you tried right clicking the wireless icon and selecting repair? May not tell you why it's doing that, but it may fix it.
What IP info are you getting?
Are you able to ping your own IP address and loopback? -
Open Control Panel and then System and find Device Manager. From the list find your wireless card and right click it and tell it to delete. Shutdown and restart your computer and after it detects the wireless card and reinstalls it see if that solves the problem.

Ipconfig /release
Ipconfig /renew
