I have hp pavilion zv5000. I use Linksys wireless router WRTP54G. Before setting up the WEP key I had no problems. When I set up the WEP key, my Internet conection drops every 2-3 minutes... Usually I get a message "new wireless networks are detected" and then I lose the connection. I click on "refresh network list" and I am connected again...

The interesting thing is that my roommate has no problem with Internet on her laptop. I called Linksys and they think that there is some setting on my wireless hardware (causing problems with WEP) that has to be changed. I am getting pretty desperate - please help...

What wireless card are you using? That's usually the problem. Let me guess... some Intel card? They're notorious for losing connection. Are you allowing the software to manage wireless or Windows?

I would be happy to answer if you tell me how to find that... :)

    Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN

I guess that this is Intel. But it was completely fine before I set up WEP key...

Broadcom isn't affiliated with Intel. Sounds like a software problem. It doesn't seem to be saving the WEP key. Are you running the most recent driver/software? Have you tried allowing Windows to manage wireless?

Sorry for my ignorance, but I don't know. I keep my windows updated, but that's all. How can I check for that?

Thank you!!! Has anybody ever told you that you are a genius? :) I am connected for 13 minutes already... It looks that after a week of frustration something finally works!
