    Hey :)

New to the site. You guys helped me decided on the Inspiron 6400 as my new laptop. Just arrived the other day :)

Anyway. We have a wirless router/modem combo from our DSL provider. The internet works fine for both the PC and Laptop. However, I can't figure out how to set up file sharing so I can get to my files on the pc from the laptop.

I've run the setup "home and business network" in xp on each system as per the details in the stick thread above, and selected files to share, but no luck.

Should I have set up the "home wireless network" instead? Would that not intefer with the wireless network and security I already have set up in my router (and what we use to connect the pc and laptop to the internet wirelessly)?

    Just a little confused.

    Thanks guys :)

    Thanks for the Reply :)

Read through the thread, but nothing useful there for me. I have XP home on both my machines (for now), so simple file sharing is not an option in home.

I've been readin through some sites...seems like it should be simple process, so I can't figure out what my problem is...

Thanks...I'll give that a try as well :)

I thought that as long as file and print sharing was listed as an exception, it woulldn't be a problem..

There are a lot of things I am an expert at as far as computers are concerned...Networking is not one them. My first time trying to configure one, really.

Thanks :) I'll report back in a day or so after I try some things.
