Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone could help me get my wireless adapter in my laptop working again. I shut if off to try to cut down on some of the bandwidth being used while i was playing games on my desktop, but now it won't recognize that it's back on. The adapter itself is an intel wireless 802.11 4965 AGN NIC, and i am running windows vista ultimate (64bit)
    Thanks

Does your keyboard have a Fn + (one of the F1-F12 keys) that enables/disables the radio? This is common on some notebooks like Toshibas. Also make sure that your wireless switch is on if you have one. It would help us help you better if you tell us your notebook brand and model. :)

Try to completely uninstall the drivers, then reinstall the drivers and see if _Vista picks up on the NIC.

Did you check the BIOS to see if it's enabled there?

Shut down the computer, boot it up and enter the BIOS by pressing F2, ESC, F10. (F2=Dell, ESC=Toshiba, HP=F10) or look to the top or bottom part of the screen as the computer boots up to see what key to press to enter the BIOS. It will flash quickly;...so when you enter the BIOS look for your Wireless Card under like a Network Devices section and make sure it's set to enabled!

If this isn't the issue/solution then move on below:

Shyster was recommending you uninstall the drivers...I would recommend to uninstall the Wireless NIC (Network Interface Card) all together, then restart the computer. But you need to have the latest drivers at hand first...so you'll need to go to the manufacturer's website (most likely the manu. of the computer) and download the drivers for the wireless card onto a jump drive or something. Then go to Control Panel--> System--> Hardware--> Device Manager and look for the wireless card under the Network Devices section. Right click it and select uninstall...after uninstalling, restart the computer. Then re-install the driver you downloaded.

Edit: BTW, is it enabled in the Network Connections section?
Go to Network and Sharing Center via Control Panel--> Network and Internet--> Manager Network Connections and right click the wireless NIC and choose enable. If you see the option to 'disable', obviously that means it's already enabled there.

And as Jstn was saying, what brand/model notebook is this? NM, just recognized you mentioned this in post#4.

    Good Luck!

Hmmm....you might be needing a new WiFi card.

    * You tried Jstn's suggestion w/ the Fn key!

    * You checked the BIOS? was it enabled? Did you even see the WiFi card in there?

    * You uninstalled the WiFi card from Device Manager!

    * You checked the Network Connections section and it was enabled there?
