Just wondering what kind of speed everyone else is experiencing when using their wireless notebook. When I am connected directly to the router, I'm getting about 4 MB/S. When wireless, this plummets to around 1 MB/S or less. I'm using a cable connection through an ultra high speed Motorola modem, with a Linksys 2.4 GHZ Broadband router, 54 MBPS Class G. Thanks. Paul.

Your speed will vary depending on the distance from the router. www.pcmagazine.com has a review in Nov of laptops and comparison of wireless performance. Most PCs were similar and differences almost neglible.

Even if I'm sitting on top of the router, the speed difference is the same.
