I've had a Netgear Wireless G Router for about 2 months now. It's all been working fine until recently. All of a sudden, it's hard to connect to the router. Sometimes I can for about 3 minutes, then it just goes out. I can see a strong signal, but I can't connect to it. Right now I have this long ethernet cable from my room going into the back of the router and it works fine. So I know that it has the capability for internet.

I've had The following computers connected to it:
    HP Pavilion desktop (XP)
    Dell XPS M1530 (Vista)
    HP dv5000 (XP)

I've called my ISP, but they said they don't specialize in routers, so they told me to call Netgear. I called Netgear and they told me to mess with a bunch of settings on it but none of it helped. They also told me to download an update for the router but every time I tried it failed.

    Anyone have any clues?

hey. i have a linksys wrt54g. every three months or so, it just goes batty. don't know why, but it starts working sporadically, dropping connections, etc (while the hardwire works fine).

every time this happens, i reset the router, unplug it, plug it in, reset it again, and unplug/plug it again one last time. i assume your router has a reset button on it, which you usually press with a pen or paper clip for 5-10 seconds to reset the router.

from there i reconfigure the security settings and everything is hunky-dory for about three months, when it freaks out again and i reset it (twice to be sure). not sure this is your situation, but you could go looking for problems ad nauseum, or just reset the whole friggin' thing and start from scratch. works for me, at least...

this just happened to me yesterday!

Thanks. I guess I could try doing that. Nothing else seems to have worked.
