Ive had alot of problems with Linksys in the past.

    What is your budget?

For a high budget, the D-Link DIR-655 HERE

For a lower budgt, a Trendnet 631BRP HERE

Then i suggest you any one of the abov routers i suggested.

But only get the DIR-655 if you are hooking up to a desktop also with a Gigabit Ethernet Card. Other than that, the DIR-615 is the same thing.

If interested in the Gigabit card for increased speed though the Ethernet Wire, HERE is a desktop Gigabit Ethernet card. You can use wih the DIR-655.

Again, if not using desktop gigabit, dont waste money on the DIR-655. ;)

If you can swing the bread, get a Linksys Dual-Band WRT600N - you can't beat Dual-Band for pure network speed and signal. Stay away from the WRT610N - it had problems during a recent head-head Router test. The testing group uses a 600N normally, and swapped it with a 610 and the others for the test, and the 610 had problems galore. The 600N is by far the current leader in Dual-Band N systems.

Remember that if you get a Dual-Band Router, you need to have Dual-Band adapters if you want to access both the 5ghz and 2.4ghz frequency bands individually to set them up as separate networks within your LAN. Use the 5ghz band for priority data/streaming media and the other for regular download stuff for the family that normally causes slowdowns on most networks (which doesn't happen on Dual-Band networks).

If you can't swing the cash for a DBN system, you can always get a WRT300N or WRT330N (Linksys' Gaming Router).

Both Sony laptops I have will have the [N] wireless. One will be used with Comcast High Speed and the other will be Jetbroadband Mach III high speed.
So will any of the Linksys [N] series work?

I'll check out the D-Link DIR-655. I'm using a D-Link cable modem now and it's 3 years old with zero issues.

D-Link and Linksys (Owned by Cisco Network) have great wireless routers.

Ive used Netgear in the past which was great but never tried their wireless before.

Maximum PC magazine rated the Linksys WRT600N as the Best of the Best in wireless routers. I'll plan to get that one.

Many people have mentioned the Linksys 600N, 310N and 300N but those don't seem to be for sale in any store nearby. What are your thoughts on the Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WRT310N-CA)?

I've had very good luck with the Rosewill RNX-N4 ( newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166028 ). Its range isn't blindingly spectacular, but more than good enough for all of my needs - and it's only $80. Besides which, it's also one of the most full-featured non-commercial routers I've seen.

If range is really that important to you, I should note that you could buy this router and 2 additional wireless access points for less than the cost of a single WRT600N - just something to think about.

+1 for the D-Link DIR-655. I've had it for just over a year now with zero issues. Great wireless range, covers both floors in my house completely. The only thing I'd complain about is the fact that it can't run custom firmware, if that matters to you.
