You made a good choice. If you do get that Dell draft N wireless, you'll have to get a Draft N router, which is quite expensive (around $100 or so). For the Intel 3945 a/g, you can get any router with A or G wireless protocols. The most popular at the moment, is the G protocol. Linksys, Netgear and D-Link make the best routers. A typical G router will be available for around $40 or so, at CompUSA, Bestbuy, CircuitCity, Frys, etc.

The D-Link will be compatible. So would the Netgear. I am not sure which would be better. Downloading speed depends mainly on what kind of internet connection you take.

The Dlink is a good router. But it does not support the 11a. Most 11a/b/g routers cost a lot more. The 11a is not used very much any more. If you have cordless phones, check to see what freq they are using, 900mhz, 2.4ghz (11b/g), 5 ghz (11a). Then you will know what kind a interference you may experience.
