you cant do it directly from the xbox, while on the ps3 you can with it's web browser. for ps3 i got 10.71Mbps down/1.6Mbps up. my rated ISP one is 20Mbps down/6Mbps up (from comcast). i will try go into my game room and hook up my laptop via the LAN port and try a speedtest though.

also, quick note, but is there anything i can do in the advanced settings so that my WRT300N gets a better signal from my DIR-655?

I'm sorry I didn't see this thread earlier to share some of my expertise. (Need to visit the forum more often)

Nevertheless, I would just say that i've used R. Bridge in the past where I had my Main Router in the living room and R. Bridge in my bedroom; R. Bridge could have the same or different SSID as Main Router.

My PS3 would connect to the R. Bridge in my bedroom directly via ethernet cable, while the R. Bridge would communicate with the Main Router in the living room Wirelessly.

If I had seen this thread earlier I would have suggested that you get another Linksys that would support dd-wrt and config. both Routers to use WDS Linked; which I switched to later on, as R. Bridge mode was giving me random disconnects.

Anyways, you seem fine now so that's good.

so my 360 is downloading things slow as hell? my pc goes fast as seen by the speedtest.net results in figure 2. what could be the problem? it takes like 5mins to download 17mb (1% of a file).

Im guessing ports the xbox use might be blocked. Is uPnP enabled?

Try downloading something else? maybe watch a youtube clip?

I dont own an xbox so i wouldnt really know much

alrite just enabled it on my WRT300N (it wasn't enabled on WRT300N, but enabled on DIR-655) and im getting an average download speed of 681.5744KB/s. i calculated it by using the file size im downloading (1.69GB = 1,730.56MB) then calculating the interval it takes to move 1%. then do it according...so on and so forth.

looks good now, 10% and rising :) though in my WRT300N, it doesn't show any UPnP clients or anything...

    Thats not too bad.

Check the DD-WRT page, pretty sure it had a bandwidth monitor.

ok...i think i did something weird. i already have a DMZ setup on my DIR-655 for my PS3 (xxx.172), because it's connecting wirelessly directly to my "Abrols" SSID.

now i put a DMZ on my WRT300N for my 360 (xxx.199) since it's connected to the WRT300N. is this bad since i have more than 1 DMZ? could it cause problems? rite now my Xbox is downloading the L4D2 demo normally, as it was before (maybe a little faster even :)). so should i keep it like this or can it disrupt anything?

I wouldnt recommend you use a PC on a router with DMZ host enabled. It opens up all the ports which is a security risk.

Just open up the ports xbox uses and you should be fine

well isn't DMZ specific to ONE IP? like i have it set on my PS3's IP address of 192.168.0.172 on the D-Link DMZ settings, and i have a DMZ setup to 192.168.0.199 (Xbox 360's IP address) on my WRT300N DMZ settings. my laptop is always either connected wirelessly to my D-Link router or by ethernet cable to the DIR-655.

i will disable DMZ if it causes problem though. right now im quite satisfied with my purchase though :) love this client bridging stuff, now even my TV has yahoo internet widgets :)

Ive always been taught to just forward ports instead of using DMZ due to security, dunno about consoles though.

Pretty sure you have to set the DMZ on the D-link (where the internet/wan is connected).

Get coaxial or electric current routing instead.
