    Hi,
I have an HP Pavillion 6226 running Vista. I'm not sure what model the wireless card is. I have no problem connecting to wireless networks, but when I put the computer into sleep mode, and go to another place with new wireless connections, when I resume and look for new wireless networks it won't detect them, even if I click the refresh wireless networks button a million times. The only way to get the machine to detect them is to reboot the whole thing. Is there any way around this ?

Have you tried the good ol' disable/enable cycle ?

Yes. I've tried switching the wireless off using the switch on the side of the computer and then turning it back on but still same result.

Go to Start > Connect to > Show all connections.
Right click on the connection and click disable.
Then enable it after a couple of seconds.
This process is different than using the switch to turn the wireless on/off.

I have been having a similar issue on a SONY TX N27N with an embedded card. I have found that I can use the vista connection center to "connect" or dial the dial up connection of the modem and that works great. Except you don't get any info about the amount of data transmitted, or the type of connection etc. But why do I care if it works great
