I have very limited abilities when it comes to networking so please bare with me. I recently got the e2000 router. At first it seemed to be working great. However, now the wireless performance is terrible. When I connect it via ethernet, the performace is much better. I have Cox internet. I have not made any changes to the routers config. The router has a clear line of sight to my computer at a distance of 12 feet. I live in an apartment complex and my computer can see about 24 other wireless connections. I use window media center on my xbox to stream music and videos and I will often loose connection. I tried to give as much information as possible. If more information is needed and there is somthing that can help me figure out what is going on, please let me know. Thanks in advance for the help.

What channel are you using? What is your wireless card?
Use inSSIDer to scan for neighboring networks and post a screenshot like this one.
Do you use 802.11g or 802.11n? What security do you use (i.e. WEP, WPA or WPA2)?

I am using channel 6. My wireless card is a Intel Wifi Link 5300 AGN. I can not tell if I am using G or N. My security is WPA2/WPA mixed mode. Thanks

Ok thanks to Downloads because he point me in the right direction. I started playing around and was able to greatly improve my wireless performance. Using inSSIDer i was able to get a clear picture of what was going on. As you can see by the picture shown above, I was on channel 6 and so were a lot of other people. That seemed to be causing poor preformance. I switched to channel 3 which had lass traffic. This did improve performance but because there was still so much traffic in the area it only improved it a small amount. This was all at 2.4 Ghz. Since my wireless card is capable of 5ghz I used inSSIDer to check the traffic there. There was none so I switched to 5ghz. My wireless performance has improved dramatically. Tripled the downloaded rates. Solid performnce with my xbox windows media player. Thanks Downloads.
