    hello people , i have a dell inspiron 600m notebook with a built in wi - fi card ...

    am very new to the concept of wireless networking .. so have a few questions regarding wi fi and also some general ones .. please help me if u can.

    1. How do i set up a ad hoc network b/w 2 or more notebooks .. i needed to do a transfer with my friend who also has wi fi notebook . please post some link or refer to some tutorial link if u know. i did a google but got confused after reading some articles as im a newbie to wi fi with 0 knowledge on the subject .

    2. i have a cable internet connection which is setup like this . Co axial cable goes into cable modem . cable modem is connected to my desktop via ethernet & cat 5 cable. now i want to share my internet connection as as to be able to use it over my notebook . i read tutorials on how to do so via a wi fi router .. but cant afford a wi fi router . is is possible to do the same if i use a pci wi fi card in my desktop and then what is the procedure to share the internet connection .

    3. I have svideo out and am planning to buy a cable to connect notebook to TV via RCA. Is is possibel to transfer autio via the svideo cable .if co what is the cable called ..

    1) Go to the control panel...wireless connections (or networking) and set up the network ad-hoc and make sure the SSID is broadcast.

    2) If you buy a wireless card for the desktop, you can set it up like that. Your desktop will act as the router. When you setup that network you have to make sure the Internet connections sharing is on.

    3) You cannot transfer sound over s-video. You can get an audio adapter to go from the head phone jack to the RCA audio in on the TV though.

    Thanks but a little more technical details on this would help .. it would also be nice if u could point me out to some tutorial over the net ..

    I must have missed this thread because I posted about the same thing today.

    I'm in the Intel Wireless Settings and there is an option to select the channel for ad hoc mode. It's set to 802.11g/b. I then set the wireless mode to 802.11g/b. It still doesnt change anything and the wireless connection still shows Disconnected.
