    i have my notebook and my desktop connected together with a wireless router. i can share files with one another

    but let say i give access to someone else to my wireless, how can i prevent them to access my files?

    i just want that person to access the internet not my files.

    but i still want to have access with my notebook.. i can not turn it off that would not give any access my self.

    The firewall would keep him out of your system.Turning off sharing would prevent your friend from accessing your files. Will you both be using the same notebook or desktop??? Maybe we misunderstood.

    Then set up you computer to be password protected, of just set up a MAC addresses so that only you can get on, just google for the instructions for your OS and your router.
