    Hello,

I just installed a new linksys WRT120N router and am having a bit of trouble. The computer to which it is wired as well as two laptops connected via wireless are performing flawlessly. However, the dell which is in my signature (running Windows XP home) is having troubles. It is connected via Belkin USB F5D7050 wireless G network adapter. It gets full bars; however, when I try to connect it asks me for the password, spends a while acquiring the network address, and then the network status says "automatic" and is grayed out. If I try to connect again, it freezes on "Waiting for network to be ready..." for several minutes before reverting to "Automatic". The encryption is WPA2, if this is relevant.

Could someone please help me figure out how to fix it?

    Thank you,

    Dan

Try removing the network from the history list. :)

Also, is your router set for N Only by any chance?

Make sure you have the latest drivers for the Wireless adapter. ;)

If the above doesnt work... try using a different type of Security and see if it is any better.

I don't think its set for N only; the other laptop is receiving a G signal while mine is receiving N (I didn't know the router could run multiple network types simultaneously; that's pretty cool!). Removing from the history list didn't do much. I'll look and see if I can find updated drivers.

Found the fix. The default language on the computer I was having trouble with was Russian. I didn't change this before typing the network password. D'oh!

Yet another factor I'm going to keep in mind when I help people troubleshoot their computers.
