Hi, I have a lenovo T61 Win XP pro, with Intel Wifi N draft. I bought a D Link wireless N router. After setup and connection, when I hover over the wifi icon in the taskbar, the speed says it's only 11 Mbps. N is suppose to be 300 Mbps. When I surf the web, it doesn't seem as slow as 11 Mbps. What's going on? Thanks.

Go to internet explorer in the address bar--type 192.168.1.1 and check all the settings to make sure that N is enabled on the router.

Well, that helped...some. I went into the router setup and indeed it was set to transmit at only Wifi B!? WTF, why would you default an N router to B 11 Mbps? Anyhow, I selected the Mixed N, B, G option. Now connecting my Lenovo T61 laptop, I get 54 Mbps. I'm also reading other threads regarding different versions of N draft, and compatability issues. Is my D-Link DIR-625 router compatible with Intel 4965AGN?

Okay, D link 625 is draft 2.0.
I also just found this interesting post... http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=156724 -
hmm, maybe try just N instead of mixed? you never know.

I changed the security to WPA2 (AES) and reconnected. Now it reads a speed of 144 Mbps. Anything else I need to do to get the advertised 300 Mbps speed?

I hit 300 once with the intel adapter, but whenever a wireless b or g device tries to connect to my network, it slows to a crawl. like 1 mbps.

ya i also got a intel 4965agn card and it only connects at 144mbps too. Though on the router page it says that it is connected at about 100mbps. And this is to a dlink DIR-625 REV A router.

it's really tough to get the 300 mbps w/out using the same make of router/adapter at this point. all the companies are using proprietary stuff hoping to make it to the final draft n due out in 2009 w/ few changes/modifications- but they aren't sharing at this point so that's why you need to use the same make equipment.
