Sup everyone. I want some uptakes or opinions about the new wireless n cards. If my friend wants to buy a computer that has the choice to get it, so I tell her to get it or not? I know its backwards compatible, but is it worth the price?

the "n" specification is still in draft stage, I believe... there is the possibility that once the spec is finalized that the "pre-N" adapters would be incompatible with new "full-N" equipment. it's not worth the expense at this point, IMO... plus, it's not like your average broadband internet connection can utilize the full speed of a g-spec adapter.

I second that thought wait til after the NewYear and see what the IEEE does.

Some cards have a firmwire upgrade that you can get to make it compatible with 802.11n, but the only ones that I have seen is from Belkin. I think it is worth adding extra, but that is just because you can transfer things at 600mbps and at a range of 20,000' outdoor, as opposed to 54mbps at 2,000' 802.11g outdoor. I would say get the Belkin card extra, just because you can update the firmwire when 802.11n get finallized.
